What is tourism :

Tourism is basically travel for pleasure or Business it also the theory and practicing of touring , the business of attracting people and providing them with accommodation and taking them around to explore the area . People don’t travel just for the sake of leisure everyone has different purpose some go for leisure, some for business, some to help the people there, some for shopping, some to rediscover their soul, etc. Whatever it is tourism is a billion dollar industry. Tourism boosts the hospitality sector, transport sector , markets. It also provides employments. There are various types of tourism like –

1]Mass tourism- Mass tourism basically means traveling in groups on pre scheduled trips under the supervision of tourism experts.

2] Winter tourism – Winter tourism basically means travelling for the sake of enjoying the winters in a certain region this type of tourism is only seen during winters and mostly occurs in places with snowfalls and with places to ski at.

3] Sports tourism-Sports tourism refers to travel which involves either observing or participating in a sporting event while staying apart from the tourists’ usual environment. Sport tourism is a fast-growing sector of the global travel industry and equates to $7.68 billion.

4]Birth tourism -Birth tourism is the practice of traveling to another country for the purpose of giving birth in that country. The main reason for birth tourism is to obtain citizenship for the child in a country with birthright citizenship

5] Cultural tourism- This type of tourism is where people solely travel for the sake of exploring a nations lifestyle, their monuments, the culture, the cuisines , etc .

Effects of tourism on the world :

It is said that the traveling and tourism industry is one of the world’s largest industries it is said that it contributed over 7.6 trillion to the world’s economy in 2016 and since then it has just been increasing . It is said that the tourism industry is something that never falls. According to a resource it’s said that  travel and tourism contributes 24.7 percent to the total GDP. If the tourism industry collapses the whole world might suffer the consequences it is said that 1 out of 10 people are indirectly or directly related to tourism. Just imagine removing at 7.6 trillion industry from the world .  Any fall in the tourism industry will result into a fall of the economy because it is said that Tourism brings large amounts of income into a local economy in the form of payment for goods and services needed by tourists, accounting as of 2011 for 30% of the world’s trade in services, and, as an invisible export, for 6% of overall exports of goods and services.It also generates opportunities for employment in the service sector of the economy associated with tourism.]The hospitality industries which benefit from tourism include transportation services (such as airlines, cruise ships, trains and taxicabs); lodging (including hotels, hostels, homestays, resorts and renting out rooms); and entertainment venues (such as amusement parks, restaurant, casinos, shopping malls, music venues, and theatres). This is in addition to goods bought by tourists, including souvenirs. Every nations government usually spent a notable amount of their revenues to develop the region to increase the tourism for instance it is said that the ” statue of unity made in India cost the government Rs 2989 crore”. And if all that money goes in vain and there is no return on investment the economy might suffer and it may result into several unwanted things.

Effects on tourism in India –

Travel and tourism is a way of zillion Indians to earn their incomes . India is a really fast growing country in terms of tourism it’s one of the tourist hubs In Asia . According to some stats tourism had contributed$ 124.8 billion to the economy which two about 6 percent of the gdp. It is said that it provided jobs to over 23.5 million Indians back then and the numbers are definitely gonna increase. If the tourism industry collapses in India . India might suffer a lot of of loss and might be on the verge of large scale unemployment became directly or indirectly it’s a way for bread earning for a lot of families. The Indian government has always taken a keen interest to increase tourism and we hope it pans out well.

Today the tourism industry is  suffering because of the covid-19 virus and every border is closed which is drastically affecting the nation . We just hope that it returns to the way it was and everyone is safe.
